De-matting a tightly matted coat takes hours and hurts the animal the whole time. Clipping it short is kinder, and the honest groomer tells you that before you arrive rather than after.
Not a veterinary practice. We report anything we find and refer it, and we never sedate an animal.

Three things we hold to. We never sedate an animal — only a licensed veterinarian may do that, and any groomer offering it should be refused. We do not use heated cage dryers, because animals have died in them. And we clip severely matted coats short rather than brushing them out, because de-matting a tight coat is painful. If we find a lump, a sore or signs of illness, we tell you and send you to your vet.
We will not. De-matting a tight coat takes hours and hurts the whole time. Clipping short is the kind option, and the coat grows back — we will show you the matting at check-in so you can see why.
No, and nobody but a veterinarian lawfully can. If an animal genuinely cannot be groomed safely awake, that is a conversation for your vet, not a groomer.
Yes, current rabies and core vaccinations before a first appointment. It protects every animal in the building, including yours.
No. Shaving a double coat removes its insulation against heat as well as cold and can change how it regrows permanently. De-shedding is what actually helps, and we will explain the difference.
Tell us everything beforehand. Grooming carries real risk for elderly animals and those with heart or respiratory conditions, and we may keep it short, split it over visits, or ask you to speak to your vet first.
We stop. A partly finished groom and an animal that will come back beats a finished groom and one that is terrified. The fee covers the time taken.
Come for a short meet-and-greet first. Free, and it makes the real appointment easier.
